In de jaren dat wij actief zijn, hebben wij al redelijk wat E46 exemplaren mogen rijden, testen en afleveren. Maar geen een komt in de buurt van dit exemplaar.

Met de E46 kon je eigenlijk twee kanten op: De luxe of de sportieve kant. Er waren opties beschikbaar als het M-pakket, sportonderstel en het sportstuur. Er was een grote catalogus met verschillende kleuren waarbij menig koper voor de veiligere zilvere optie ging. Zo nu en dan kwam er een vrouw de dealer binnen, uit eigen ervaring kunnen we inmiddels zeggen dat zij vaak voor de mooiste specificaties zorgde, zo ook voor deze.

Eind 1999 is de afleveringscontrole voor deze luxe 3-serie uitgevoerd, bij dealer en importeur Ad Smelt b.v. (tegenwoordig overgenomen door Van Poelgeest Naarden). De kleurkeuze is gevallen op het prachtig diepe Farngrün, een diep groene metallic lak die niet vaak te zien is. Is het dan British Racing Green? Nee totaal niet, een stuk mooier en veel unieker. De stoelen zijn een combinatie van leer en stof. Hellbeige 2 leer in combinatie met het Maglia stof. Als ik dit exemplaar kon houden dan zou ik hem zelf tot de 3 ton rijden. Verder vinden we uiteraard opties als Cruise Control, elektrische stoelen met memory functie, airconditioning, een leder multifunctioneel sportstuurwiel, zonnewering en elektrische ramen. Uiteraard afgetopt met een prachtig hout pakket. Alles werkt en de airco wordt voor aflevering nog gevuld.

De M52TU28 is een van de beste en lekkerste motoren op de youngtimer markt. Een geweldig betrouwbare 6-cilinder met precies genoeg vermogen om het leuk te maken en er toch voor de zorgen dat je alle versnellingen gebruikt. Want ja, het is een 5-handbak. Iets wat helaas niet snel te vinden is in een topmodel E46. Topmodel, want in 1999 was dit zo ongeveer het duurste wat je kon krijgen op 3-serie vlak. De motor geeft 193 pk op de achterwielen. Dit exemplaar is geleverd met het sportonderstel, iets wat je niet meteen zou verwachten bij deze kleurstelling maar wat voelt het heerlijk. Ik val in herhaling maar ja, het is sportief en comfortabel tegelijk, de perfecte middenweg.

Aan de buitenzijde is de auto net zo mooi als van binnen.
Het Farn-grün lakwerk verkeert nog in zeer goede staat, precies zoals de foto's je doen geloven. Na heel intensief bestuderen hebben wij twee hele kleine deukjes gevonden en een wat diepere kras, maar deze zijn nauwelijks op te merken. Het lakwerk is verder erg mooi. Zowel in de zon als in de schaduw komt de kleur prachtig naar boven en maakt een chique verschijning in combinatie met de zilveren velgen.

Wij hebben de auto overgenomen van de tweede eigenaar. Een echte young- en oldtimerfanaat die de BMW gekoesterd heeft, verschillende facturen aanwezig ter inzage. Het serviceboekje is keurig afgestempeld, voor verkoop krijgt de BMW echter nog een grote beurt, zodat de volgende eigenaar direct onbezorgd kan genieten van zijn/haar nieuwe speeltje. Om de prachtige Style 42 velgen zit vers Michelin Pilot Sport rubber gemonteerd. Eventueel kan tegen bijbetaling de auto geleverd worden op 16" Style 32 velgen worden geleverd, smaken verschillen.

Een unieke apparaat en daar zijn er geen twee van. Op dit moment staat er geen 328Ci met een handbak rond deze kilometerstand in Nederland te koop, zeker geen originele Nederlander.

In the years that we have been active, we have already been able to drive, test and deliver quite a few E46 copies. But none come close to this one.

You could actually go two ways with the E46: The luxury or the sporty side. Options were available such as the M package, sports suspension and sports steering wheel. There was a large catalog of different colors with many a buyer going for the safer silver option. Every now and then a woman entered the dealership, from our own experience we can now say that she often provided the best specifications, including this one.

The delivery check for this luxury 3-series was carried out at the end of 1999 at dealer and importer Ad Smelt b.v. (nowadays taken over by Van Poelgeest Naarden). The color choice fell on the beautifully deep Farngrün, a deep green metallic paint that is not often seen. Is it British Racing Green then? No not at all, a lot nicer and much more unique. The seats are a combination of leather and fabric. Hellbeige 2 leather in combination with the Maglia fabric. If I could keep this example I would drive it myself up to 3 tons. We also find options such as Cruise Control, electric seats with memory function, air conditioning, a leather multifunctional sports steering wheel, sun blinds and electric windows. Of course capped with a beautiful wood package. Everything works and the air conditioning is still filled before delivery.

The M52TU28 is one of the best and tastiest engines on the youngtimer market. A wonderfully reliable 6-cylinder with just enough power to make it fun and still ensure that you use all gears. Because yes, it is a 5-speed manual. Something that is unfortunately not easy to find in a top model E46. Top model, because in 1999 this was about the most expensive thing you could get on a 3-series level. The engine gives 193 horsepower to the rear wheels. This copy is delivered with the sports suspension, something you would not immediately expect with this color scheme, but it feels great. I'm repeating myself but yes, it's sporty and comfortable at the same time, the perfect middle ground.

The car is just as beautiful on the outside as it is on the inside.
The Farn-grün paintwork is still in very good condition, just as the pictures lead you to believe. After very intensive study, we found two very small dents and a somewhat deeper scratch, but these are hardly noticeable. The paintwork is also very nice. Both in the sun and in the shade, the color comes out beautifully and makes a chic appearance in combination with the silver rims.

We took over the car from the second owner. A real young and old-timer fanatic who has cherished the BMW, various invoices are available for inspection. The service booklet is neatly stamped, but before sale the BMW will receive a major service, so that the next owner can immediately enjoy his/her new toy without any worries. Fresh Michelin Pilot Sport rubber is mounted around the beautiful Style 42 rims. Optionally, the car can be delivered on 16" Style 32 rims for an additional fee, tastes differ.

A unique car and there are no two of them. At the moment there is no 328Ci with a manual transmission around this mileage for sale in the Netherlands, certainly not an original Dutchman.
